I met Joe and Brett the night they arrived in Arnolds Park on their bicycles from Chicago. Compelled to hear their purpose, I became instantly captivated to be a forever fan of their artistic ambitions. As they left a few days later, I felt a yearning to have that chance to get lost and putting it all in faith.
I look forward to seeing them again. Maybe for Joe's gallery opening at The Wine Bar & Art Gallery or for when Brett comes this way to knowingly get "lost" again.
So you may wonder what is their artistic product on this journey? It can be complex, but I described it as an organic creative exploration of the human condition, gratitude and faith. This builds stories on the environment, structures of all kinds and of course the people who help guide their purpose to Portland OR. Here is a quote from their web site http://illuminatedthread.com "We’re simply replacing the static surroundings of our studios with the dynamic context of an extended bicycle tour. In other words: we’re taking it on the road. The ride’s primary thematic thread will be digesting a wide and ever-changing stream of fresh visual and conceptual material, then using it as fodder for new work. In short, it will be a predominantly intellectual pursuit encapsulated by a physical one."
If you see these guys coming your way; you then have discovered your lucky placement in life. Offer them a high calorie warm meal, hot shower and a soft place to sleep. They will in return notice this with gratitude and it just may inspire them to start or finish one of those intriguing thematic threads.
Thanks Joe and Brett - it is amazing! A thousand thanks for your Keep Okoboji Blue appreciation. Love you for that. And I am looking forward to that LOST rock making it to it's home on the Oregon shore. Always - Deidre
